I wasn't aware of this...

I bought a ticket to New Zealand after a 1 months wait for the Visit Visa. The Emirates flight direct to NZ from Dubai with a quick refuel stop at Melbourne. It seems that now, i cant take that flight cause "INDIANS" need a visa just to land in Australia... even though i dont get off the aircraft.

Strange, true and very very sad. Of all that India is and how much indians contribute to the planet, this kinda bureaucracy deeply saddens me. I love being an Indian and I love my Indian Passport. Its a shame that in situations like these i feel almost criminal...

That's ridiculous - you don't even have to clear through Immigration if you're in transit which makes getting a visa a useless waste of time. Who the heck's going to check it?

Try Singapore Airlines or Royal Brunei. They have flights that don't stop in Oz.

Good luck.

cheers

Hey Clint

*sigh*

I was hoping to come back with better news for you, but it looks like it's true. You do need a visa to transit throught Oz even if you're not actually entering the country. Here's the link

I have a work colleague here in Dubai who is on an Indian passport and her mother lives in Australia. When she visited her mother last year, she went through Bangkok, and she said that she didn't have to get a transit visa through Thailand.

trust this helps.

Welcome to the club buddy. And they say India is a country to watch out for, rising economy and other BS. My ass.

Let the passport/visa issues be sorted out first. We need a visa to go to every damn place. Great.. just great.

-an indian in switzerland spending half a million bucks to travel to any schengen counry, ever:)
the day will come though. when we will be open citizens and there will be a thousand red necks outside the indian embassy in washington pushing their way for the golden-stamp of chandigarh.
ok , im pushing it. but its nice to dream.
