clints back!

Its been a while and let me just tell you that its been quite a wild ride. ever since the website came up ive been plugging my photography work. i had a few jobs lined up. i lost some of them cause of budget or time constraints. but what i realise is that u cant keep everyone happy. last week i did a shoot for intercontinental hotel. its an international chain of hotels. they gave me a short brief as to what they needed. and i shot the photographys just like they wanted.

the idea was to shoot their outlets. like the restaurants and the mexican club and pool area etc. but to shoot it in a dramatized way. i stylized most of the shots and i think they turned out great...

turns out the general manager thought they lacked depth. he claims they are flat and required more people in it. i disaggree but then again the client is always right...

Im buying Mercedes cause my car doesn’t have a handle

No im not buying a Mercedes(you can relax sugar). But the words in the title was a start of a truly insightful conversation. But lemme explain anyways.

You see, i have a friend called lester. Currently, lester drives one of those Hyundai sports cars called the Hyundai coupe or the Hyundai Tiburon in other countries. And one thing this car doesn’t have is one of those handles above the passenger side window. And almost subconsciously everyone who sits in the passenger side seat puts their hands up to look for it. At this point lester always has a small grimace on his face cause it happens to everybody. Lester wants to buy this new Mercedes ya but still trying to find the practicality of buying an expensive car. As this discussion of practicality continued the issue shifted from buying the car to affording the car and eventually it being more a status symbol rather than a commuting vehicle.

Lemme get to the point.

We started to talk about how people judge other people. And here was my argument. How come people judge people on what the own and how much they earn. Y don’t people judge people on how they are as individuals?

Speaking through experience ive had the bad times and ive had the good times. But during the bad times I noticed that people for some reason turn on you. I’ve been blaming the country for this is cause most people in this country seem to mind other peoples business. I don’t know how it is else where. But im sure its not like this. Point being that I lost a lotta friends at a juncture of life where I needed them the most. At least I thought I did. They I start to think whether they were friends after all? Is a rude awakening what we need to know who are friends are?

True that once I started doing way better in life everyone was all praises of clint doin well and dishing complements left right and center. But to what point? The damage was done. Of course what ever happened lead to a very independent lifestyle which I have now but still the friends were linked to some good memories. But were they memories filled with deceit?

Lesters argument was that people expected me to do well. hence when I wasn’t performing up to their expectation they felt let down which in turn led to a whole bunch of bastardly behavior. A very valid point I may add. To some extent he was right. If you look at the “turn the other cheek” principle this is the best way to look at it. Expectation always leads to some kinda disappointment. People arnt really happy with what they already have, a good friend, someone u can count on. They need that successful winner sort of person. They judge people for what they are socially rather than who they are inside.

End of the day. Im glad I got that rude awakening. for 2 reasons. One that I don’t ever want to make friends with people who want to hang out with me for how much I make for a living. And 2, I will never ever judge someone personally for the bad times they’ve gone tru in their lives…
