the Heineken story

This country will never seize to amaze me. Every now and then i get this very rude awakening about how backward this country really is.

I was working on this job for a new client. They supply all the booze in this country. And since there was this new promotion for heineken comming up they gave me some artwork to produce. very simple and straight forward stuff. but heres where the qatar factor comes in...

Every printing press i went to, refused to print any artwork that had anything to do with beer or alchoholic beverages. This is Hipocracy at work here. FucK! i was just asking to print the dam posters i wasnt asking to drink the dam thing. Its really really sad... ive realised to really not bother with explaining anything to qatari's anymore.

the whole country will take 10 steps forward and then 20 steps backwards and then wonder how they got there.

heres a comic to illustrate how i feel...

-------------

This post has no heading. But with due reason. and the reason being that i cant summerise what im about to write... but it will make sense once u dwell on it...

Man WAS meant to fly. its just that god or whichever governing heavenly body didnt give us wings. But that wasnt the problem... the problem was beliving that we didnt have wings to begin with... to sum it up... we put limitations on ureselfs.

im not talking about literal flight. where i jump off a cliff and start soaring. im talking about the human spirit.

in my line of work i meet a whole bunch of people. and most of those people i meet are quite content with the way their lives are goin. that being said that, they are quite satisfied knowing that in the end of the day, they get their pay check and thats preety much it. life becomes the constant struggle to get more money... i repeat again... life becomes the constant struggle to get more money...

money has become the sole commodity for people to live for. whats happened to living life for the glory of things. having new experinces, doing things knowing the fact that this life is the only shot your gonna get to be all you can be. people today pride themselves with the fact that they got a cool car, bike, shoes, clothes, computers, mp3 players... since when has having a good life depend on the things you own... in the words of brad pitt in fight club "things you own, end up owning you"

True?

Human flight and the ability to soar comes for the sole fact in beliving that noting is impossible. As kids we always believe that we can grow up to be whatever we want. also as kids we've had the most fun. thats cause we believe that anything is possible with a little bit of immagination. at some point in our existance we let that child inside us go and the limitations are instantly put fourth.

do you ever sit to think about when that happened? when was that single moment where you clipped your wings and decided to keep your feet on the ground...

i know its a complete mind trip if u really sit to think about it... but i think its worth it... even i lost that ability to fly... but im tryin to figure out how to get it back. every moment that goes by, things get clearer... and im already off the ground....

Men & Kings...

Definition: Honour (or honor) comprises the reputation, self-perception or moral identity of an individual or of a group.

I was watching my one of my all time favourite animations the other day. Cowboy bebop. It’s a futuristic Japanese rendition of bounty hunters searching for fugitives. But like all Japanese animations the lead character will always get in to a fight scene for the honour. Even when he dies, he dies with honour.

Last night there was a small incident where in one of my friends got into a small bar altercation. And this is a good friend of mine so I jumped in and calm things down. Things got heated and then things got calm eventually. Stupid behaviour was at large but then again that’s what happens at bars. And it happens a lot around immature people. In this particular incident there was no wrong people. Just misunderstood people. But when u add the influence of alcohol, the story takes G force turns.

That was just the background setup. Heres what my post is about. Later on while driving home after everything had calmed down, there was this other passenger in the car who said this to me. I don’t remember the exact words but they went something like this. “ I don’t know where your loyalties lie but I would have never got myself involved in a situation like that”

Again I say that those wernt the exact words but that’s the context it was said in.

It was like a hammer to the head. My head in particular. I could feel my grey matter oozing outta my ears. Not because this person made sense in his/her morbid way, but cause at that point, I saw honour die…

Its justified that people don’t like getting involved in things that could get them into trouble. But heres my question. If ever you were in trouble, would u rather your friends just watch the fun or stand up besides you just for that honourable moral support.

People in this day and age in their individualistic lifestyles don’t seem the find the need to stand up for what’s right. If it doesn’t involve them, then they aren’t concerned. And I feel that it is this way of thinking that will lead all of us to certain damnation.

I know ive been judged bout this a few times before. And people wonder why I do it. They see no reason for me to be standing up for anyone.

But I don’t stand up for anybody; I stand up for whats right. Not everyone is born with that gift of dealing with situations. Well I can deal with tricky situations, and if I can help im gonna do it without hesitation. The rest of the world may not get involved as far as im concerned. but that’s what makes me who I am. I may get beat up, I may get into loads of trouble, but aleast ill do it with some honour, and that’s something that everyones let go of in this day and age.

Honour is what made men into kings and Respect will last a lifetime. We all gotta die someday, might as well die honorably.
