now there are a few things i dont understand.
1. howcome this only happens in america?
2. howcome im not violent playin the same violent games?
3. did the guy who scratched my car play these games? (i dont think so)
4. the colombine shooters went bowling before they went on a massacre, does bowling induce violent tendencies?
5. Does anyone of you know anyone who acts violent after playin video games?
6. can i fly a concorde after playin flight simulator? can you?
7. Would you let your kids play GTA san andreas? thats like sayin would you let ure kids watch porn?

Truth is...its happening everywhere. There's little doubt whether violence seen is violence emulated. I wouldn't hold the media responsible because everyone's out to make money. I think the parents need to be more aware of the things they're children are exposed to.
Last month, I found my nephew playing GTA San Andreas and ratted him to his dad.

That being said, I think sueing people is the stupidest solution but hey remember the guy who earned buttloads by sueing some coffee house for not "warning" him that the beverage was hot?
The point is civil lawsuits work in the States.
I would have to agree, watching violence may not be the cause of aggression, but there is definately a strong correlation, perhaps it activates existing aggressive tendencies, maybe it condones it but there is a link.
About the lawsuits though those happen only in america, possibly cuz of an efficient judiciary and also cuz it works. (In india u'd end up waiting 15 years just to be heard and then dismissed as a waste of time) Which results in U.S. ladders with the warning 'this is the last step' on the last step. Now do you kinda get why it happens only in America!!!

japanese game makers have more gore and more violence and sexual themes than any country in the world. their sensorships laws arent as strict as the americas. teen agerrs grow up reading comic books with gore and sex. (anime & manga)
dont see them molesting and killing other people. they do however release some truly physotic movies.
games got nothin to do with reality. if somehow they do cross over, its the person to blame, not the game. Games done come with hypnotic messages of killing people. adjusted indivisuals know the diff between reality and fiction
Maybe so, but then there's no telling how it affects the minds of a protected one sided society. Or for that matter kids. Whether gore, sex or any of the psychotic is a way of life or not. There are things that need boundaries Clint.
I personally subscribe to a world where things need to curbed in order to control the way people develop. And yes, i agree you can't blame a game, everytime someone is raped or mugged. That would be pushing it too far. BUT,
just because Japs have it all deep and dark in their animation and they don't project that on the outside. And given the averages - yes, we don't see Japs/Oriental races really hitting the stats as much as the average american does. Let's just say media and the stat collection points is a mafia in itself. A controlled a panel of groups, there's more to it than meets the eye. Trust me on that piece of fact - AP, Reuters, the works. You wouldn't believe hwo controlled information is in the communication explosion.
Here's something to chew on. The Japanese porn, sex and movie industry are heavily fuelled with these phantasmal notion of violence and gore (because their history, subjugation, and marital arts) stand testimony to a supressed society of individuals who have very deep set, ingrained thoughts that must spill or risk falling into a category that everyone is waiting to brand them.
The Time article on the Japanese sex industry is testimony enough to how sick it can be. Children as young as 12, wear really short school skirts and perform what you score bonus points with on men old enough to be their fathers (grandfathers even). Girls wearing swatches of cloth stand mock crucifed on woodencrucifixes as men lash at them with ships, poke them with kabab skewers (gently, i should add, we don't want blood on our hands now do we?) while she has to moan and plead for mercy before he obliges and then we all know what happens.
This is just a couple of incidents in an organised and very public sphere of prostitution. So, today it's the games, tomorrow it could be pokegirls, and S&Macho. So, since you're well on your way past adulthood and have a semblance of what life really is about (we're learning, it's a start), kids probably have access to some of the stuff you and i had when we could handle it. SO (my point is ;) I can't hear you thinking!)
The point is, that there is no real way to prove that violence on the telly or games with free sex and gore contributes to violent, psychopaths in the future. Most gamers (i game too, by the way) would probably argue and say that
this is just a gamer's way of delving deep into the psyche and accessing his deep dark thoughts for a couple hours. I don't really think that that's reason enough to market it to kids. I don't think that gore and sex makes the game amymore challenging or exciting or even adds to the ambience of a deep dark alley (like a half naked biker nymph screaming out in ecstacy or blood splattering from a victim's neck gives you the much needed satisfaction of finding the energy pack you were supposed to (yeah! there it is behind her ass!)
Like you look beyond Batman...Clint. This needs some deep thought my friend. and Shucks, it's never easy, trust me on that one.

I personally don't subscribe to a world where everything needs to be curbed in order to control the way people develop. But hell if didn't have rules about certain things, then why stay in society? Why help define terms like that?
But there are few places where caution and sensitivity needs to be exercised (Bully for us! But it has to be said!)

Haven’t met anyone with so much to say about violence in gaming. Much appreciated. Although a discussion is at hand, and since I don’t have as much time to reply to everything, ill just try to get the gist of it.
Firstly. The games have NOTING to do with anyone goin and killing people. thats like sayin im gonna go molest and rape women if I watch a lotta porn.
As sick and twisted the easterners are, they also have strict disciples on behavior and cultural interaction. You will find the odd S&M fanatic, and pedophiles, but all countries and cultures have that.
I love anime and gaming. And I can stomach the violence. But I wouldn’t let me 10 year old cousin play the games. Its not that the games will screw them up. Its that they have enough to figure out in their supple minds. That’s where good parenting comes in.
All games come with a rating system as do most adult dvds. Parents need to watch what their kids are doing. DON”T blame the game manufactures for it.
I agree with whatever ure saying. And its perfectly justified. My problem with jack Thompson is that hes stopping the games from being made.
Why doesn’t he target the NRA for selling guns?
It is a constitutional right to bear arms in America. How can you blame gaming when the first few sentences in their constitution states you can carry weapons around?
And yes meg, I do look beyond the obvious, GAMES DON’T MAKE PEOPLE KILLERS.
